Reynolds attended Lawrence High School, where he graduated with a high school diploma. After having completed high school, he joined the University of Alabama. Kelvin graduated with a diploma from the University of Alabama in 1996. Prior to his graduation, he interned at WBRC in the same office he currently works.

Prior to his time at WBRC 6, Reynolds worked at WALA for seven years while in the news business in Mobile. When Reynolds joined the WALA team, he served as a photographer, and after his consistent efforts, he was promoted to the reporting role. In addition, while Kelvin worked at WALA, he covered tropical storms, a half dozen hurricanes, and the Ten Commandments debate in Montgomery.
