Katy Zachry is an American anchor and reporter working for NBC10 as a weekday morning anchor and reporter at 4:30 a.m., 5 a.m., 6 a.m., and 11 a.m. She joined the NBC10 news team in 2011, after previously working for WFSB-TV.
Zachry is a proud graduate of Bucknell University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Geography. During her college years, she did a host of broadcasting internships, including one at WHYY in Philadelphia. Above all, she is most passionate about making connections with viewers and ensuring that they are aware of what is going on in their community. The fact that there is always news being made in the Greater Philadelphia area is Katy’s favorite aspect about covering it. The opportunity she had to travel to Penn State to cover the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse crisis is most certainly her most treasured reporting experience. Katy covered the fallout, the trial, and Sandusky’s conviction for weeks while she was at State College.
She was one of several journalists who won an Emmy for their coverage of the challenging story. Before joining NBC10, Zachry worked at news stations in Roswell, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Hartford, Connecticut. In addition, Katy is a proud board member of Students Run Philly Style, an organization that pairs city students with running mentors who, through race training, help students improve their grades and overall lifestyle.
