Kathleen Bade is an American multiple Emmy-winning anchor working for FOX 5 News as a weekday evening anchor at 5, 6, 10, and 11 p.m. She joined the FOX 5 news team in 2008.
Kathleen Bade Career
While working for FOX 5, she has covered major news stories and events from spearheading election coverage to the opening of Petco Park and hosting news specials on high-profile court cases. She is a huge advocate for children and a great journalist thus, she has received multiple Emmy awards. In addition, Bade is a sought-after public speaker who enjoys mentoring and motivating young people.
Kathleen attended Arizona State University where she studied at its prestigious Walter Cronkite School of Telecommunications and Journalism and graduated proudly. She was also the first studied in her college history to have earned the coveted William Randolph Hearst Award in San Francisco. In addition, for her achievements in academics, she secured a one-on-one interview with Walter Cronkite. Furthermore, she returned to the Sun Devil campus in 2004, thus getting inducted into the ASU Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
Furthermore, she was able to secure her first on-air job at KYMA in Yuma, Arizona where she started off as an evening weather anchor and fill-in news anchor. She also studied at Mississippi State University where she earned a degree in broadcast meteorology. After having graduated, she returned to her hometown in Phoenix where she worked at NBA’s Phoenix Suns in the community relations department. In addition, while Kathleen worked for NBA’s Phoenix Suns, she worked alongside; Charles Barkley and Hall of Famer Connie Hawkins.
Later on, Bade worked in Phoenix at CBS where she served as a morning weather anchor. Not long after, she was promoted to serving as the weekend anchor after only 2 years at the station. She also worked for FOX and while at the station, she assisted in launching “FOX 10 Arizona Morning” which is a morning newscast that she co-hosted for three years. In addition, she also worked at KFMB Channel 8 in San Diego where she worked for seven years. While she was at the station, she assisted in recording several children into loving homes through her work with San Diego County Adoptions. After having taken a short break from work, Kathleen returned to work in 2008 at FOX 5 San Diego.
During Kathleen’s leisure time, she enjoys interior decorating, skiing, cheering for her own kids in sports, going to the mountains of San Diego State Aztec basketball and football, supporting the fine arts as she was a former ballerina, and watching HGTV home renovation shows together with her family.
