Kate Merrill is an American Emmy award-winning anchor working for WBZ-TV News as a weekday morning anchor. She joined the WBZ-TV team in March 2004, after previously working for WNBC-TV in New York.
Carlisle, Massachusetts is where Merrill was born and brought up. She attended Concord-Carlisle High School where she graduated with a high school diploma. Later on, she joined Lafayette College where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in government and law. She started her career at WCVB-TV in Boston as an intern while still in college, and after graduating, she relocated to New York where she worked for WIVT-TV and WICZ-TV. In addition, Kate has also worked for WKRN-TV in Nashville, Tennessee as an anchor and reporter since 1998.
Furthermore, in 1998, Merrill also received two awards for her investigative reporting. Kate worked at WKRN for 5 years and she returned to the Northeast where she worked for WNBC-TV in New York. While working at WBZ, Merrill has reported many stories for which she has earned a number of Emmy awards. A number of big stories that Kate has covered while in Boston include; the 2004 Democratic National Convention, the 2013 Marathon bombings, the 2004 Red Sox World Series win, and a number of Patriots Super Bowls.
Aside from serving as an anchor and reporter, Merrill is a member of the National Charity League. The National Charity League is a mother-daughter organization that is focused on promoting leadership, philanthropy, and culture. Together with her two teenage daughters, she has volunteered with a number of local organizations such as; Open Table Minuteman Arc, and The American Red Cross Boston Food Pantry.
