Kate Chappell is an American anchor and reporter working for WMAQ-TV as a weekend morning anchor and general assignment reporter. She joined the NBC 5 news team in December 2018.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin is Chappell’s native home and she attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she graduated with a double major in Journalism and Political Science in 2012. Prior to her graduation, she interned at WLKG Lake 96.1, ESPN Radio, WITI – TV 6, and WMTV in Madison, Wisconsin. After having graduated, Kate joined WSUM Student Radio where she served as daily anchor and reporter for 7 months.
Later on, Chappell joined WNDU-TV in South Bend, Indiana as a general assignment reporter. She was promoted to the position of an early morning anchor and reporter in November 2013. While in that position, Chappell researched and wrote her own stories, she also edited and broadcasted those stories on a daily basis.
