Kasie Hunt is an American anchor working for CNN as an Anchor and chief National Affairs Analyst. She hosts Early Start with Kasie Hunt weekdays from 5-6 am ET on CNN and State of the Race with Kasie Hunt weekdays from 11 am-12 pm ET on CNN International, also available on CNN Max. She joined the CNN news team in 2021, after previously working for NBC as an anchor.

After more than eight years at NBC News, where she most recently hosted Way Too Early and contributed regularly to Morning Joe following her Sunday night anchoring of KasieDC, Hunt joined CNN in 2021. In addition, Hunt worked as the Capitol Hill Correspondent for NBC News and was a key member of the network’s 2020 election night coverage. Prior to becoming an anchor, she began her career at NBC News as an off-air reporter and producer covering Congress and politics. She then began making frequent appearances on MSNBC as a political reporter and then as a political correspondent.

In both 2016 and 2020, Hunt covered both establishment and rebel politicians for NBC News. She first spoke with Donald Trump in 2013 when he was in Iowa. Hunt was also the first journalist to speak with him in his Trump Tower office following his announcement of a presidential bid in 2015, pressing him on his explosive accusations regarding Mexican immigrants smuggling drugs and committing crimes across the border. Hunt conducted a live, on-air interview with now-President Joe Biden in 2020 while he was trying to rally from behind and win the 2020 nomination. The interview was conducted in South Carolina.

Hunt oversaw the NBC News investigative team that won the Joan Shorenstein Barone Award in 2018 for their coverage of claims of sexual harassment on Capitol Hill. She covered the enactment of the Affordable Care Act as a lead Associated Press reporter on Mitt Romney’s campaign jet in 2012 and worked as a health policy correspondent for the National Journal’s CongressDaily before joining NBC. She covered the 2010 midterm elections as a writer for Politico as well. Hunt began her media career as an intern in NBC News’ politics division.

Hunt received his high school diploma from Conestoga in the year 2003. She attended George Washington University and received a degree in international affairs there in 2006, graduating with highest honors and magna cum laude. She continued her education at St. John’s College in Cambridge, where she received a master’s degree in sociology.
