Karina Nova is a Rusian-born American Emmy-winning anchor and reporter working for KGO-TV. She joined KGO-TV in January 2022, after previously working for WBNS-TV.
Nova has spent the better part of her life in Ohio and she was born in Baku, Azerbaijan to a family that emigrated to the United States when she was 8 years. Her family then settled in Northeast Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie. Karina joined Kent State University in Ohio in 2002, where she studied journalism and political science and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2006. In addition, she interned at C-SPAN, Voice of America, and at Senator George Voinovich of Ohio – Appropriations.
Later on, Nova started her broadcasting career on PBS where she served as the host of a civic-focused news program. She then joined WBNS News in Columbus, Ohio where she served as a traffic reporter for 15 years. While she was at the station, she also served as a general assigned not reporter and worked her way up to becoming a weekday morning anchor. In addition, for her breaking news coverage of a huge train derailment, she was awarded an Emmy award.
Furthermore, while Karina worked in Columbus for 15 years, she volunteered and emceed events for many nonprofitable organizations. She is a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters and was a board member of the Fairy Godmothers and Columbus Fashion Council. During her spare time, she enjoys assisting people to discover nature ar public parts, being outdoors, and spending ample time with her family.
