Julia Boorstin is an American senior media and tech correspondent who is currently working at CNBC’s Los Angeles Bureau. She contributes to the station’s bi-coastal tech-focused program called TechCheck alongside Deirdre Bosa which airs on weekdays from 11 am to 12 pm and from 5 am to 9 am. 

In addition, she joined the CNBC team as a general assignment reporter in May 2006, and later on, she relocated to Los Angeles in 2007.

She did create and launched the CNBC Disruptor 50 in 2013 which is an annual list she oversees, highlighting the private companies transforming the economy and challenging companies in established industries. In addition, she also did report a documentary on the future of television for the network, “Stay Tuned…The Future of TV.”

Boorstin assisted in launching the Closing the Gap initiative that covers the people and companies closing gender gaps and leads CNBC’s coverage of studies on this topic. Furthermore, as of the moment, she is writing her book entitled WHEN WOMEN LEAD: What they achieve, Why they succeed, and How we can learn from them.

Previously, she worked at Fortune magazine since 2000, where she served as a business writer and reporter. In addition, while she worked at Fortune magazine, she contributed to Street Life which is a live market wrap-up segment on CNN Headline News.

In addition, she was named to the TJFR 30 under 30 list of the most promising business journalists under 30 years old by Financial Reporting and The Journalist newsletter in the years 2003, 2004, and 2006. Furthermore, she also did work for the State Department’s delegation to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and for Vice President Gore’s domestic policy office.
