Juan Fernandez is an American anchor working for KCAL9 News as a weekday anchor at 4 pm and 9 pm. He joined the KCAL9 team in January 1996, after previously working for WSVN.
While serving as a journalist, Juan has covered a number of the largest in Southland. Fernandez’s most memorable stories include; presidential visits and the arrival of the space shuttle Endeavour and its final journey through the streets of Los Angeles to the California Science Center. In addition, he has worked for CBS2 and KCAL9 News as a weathercaster and anchor on both stations. Prior to relocating to Los Angeles, he worked in Miami at WSVN-7 as well as WLTV-23/Univision and the Telemundo Network where he served as a general assignment reporter.
Furthermore, Juan attended Florida International University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Broadcast Journalism. He is eloquent in Spanish and he is a huge advocate for the need to learn more than one language and is a champion for literacy. he is very active in the community and his community service projects include mentoring students who are pursuing careers in broadcasting which he enjoys doing. During his spare time, he enjoys; traveling, hiking, and exploring the many amazing food options in the Southland.
