Josh Chapin is an American anchor and reporter working for ABC 11 as a reporter at 11 pm and fill-in anchor. He joined the ABC 11 news team in February 2018, previously working for KHOU 11.
Josh Chapin Career
While Chapin worked for KHOU 11 News CBS affiliate in Houston, he served as a general assignment reporter. He has also worked in Texas where he served as a reporter for three years. While in Texas, Josh covered a wide variety of stories such as; the humanitarian response to Hurricane Harvey and the devastation. In addition, Josh also covered a Final Four, Super Bowl LI, and the 2017 Astros’ first World Series title. Chapin covered all of TEGNA’s affiliates throughout the Southeast in 2015, the night when a gunman opened fire in a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Furthermore, Chapin reported on the Houston Livestock Show where he donned cowboy boots, and during the Mardi Gras in Galveston, he Rodeo and tossed beads into the crowd. Before working in Texas, Josh was in Nutmeg State where he worked for WVIT, the NBC affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut as a reporter and fill-in anchor for two years. In addition, Chapin was among the team that won a Peabody Award for the coverage of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.
He also covered the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings for a week in 2013. Chapin reported extensively on transportation issues while focusing on Metro North-Josh and he was among the first reporters on the scene during the 2013 Bridgeport train derailment. The train injured over 70 people and caused a massive power failure in the Bronx that stopped train service from New York City to Stamford. In addition, Josh started his television career at News 12 The Bronx as a desk assistant and finally became the weekend anchor and lead reporter.
New York City is where Chapin was born and brought up. he attended Duke University where he graduated cum laude with a minor in media policy in 2009. He interned at another station in the Raleigh Durham market. During his spare time, he enjoys; listening to a variety of music, traveling, watching all kinds of sports, playing golf, and solving at least one crossword puzzle a day.
