Jordan Chavez is an American anchor and reporter who is currently working at 9NEWS. He joined the 9NEWS Denver, Colorado team in March 2017.
Previously, he worked at KAMR, the NBC affiliate in Amarillo, Texas where he served as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter. While he worked at KAMR, he covered everything from political stories to breaking news including a capital murder trial and an active shooter inside a Walmart – both of which garnered national attention.
Chavez is naturally curious about the world around him which led to his decision to become a journalist. He can be described as a news nerd, as he frequently checks his phone for updates about stories happening around his community and across the globe. Embarrassingly, he admitted that his DVR is almost full of recordings of NBC Nightly News.
New Orleans is his native home but he later relocated to Amarillo where he was brought up. He attended Texas State University where he graduated in 2014, with a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Media. During his leisure time, he enjoys exploring Colorado’s beautiful mountains, rivers, and excellent breweries.
