Jonathan Bruce is an American multimedia journalist and anchor currently working at ABC13 Houston. He joined the ABC13 news team in December 2021 as an anchor. 

Jonathan Bruce Career

He covers both news and sports. Before he joined the ABC13 team, he worked at KKTV Channel 11 News in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he headed up the digital ‘Breaking News Center.’ He also served as a digital anchor and breaking news reporter at the station.

Jackson, Mississippi is his native home and he attended Trinity University in San Antonio where he thrived as an English major and excelled at eating tacos. In addition, he also did attend the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University where he graduated with a master’s degree in broadcast and digital journalism.

After he had graduated, he joined FOX 40 (WDBD) where he served as a sports reporter. In addition, he has also served as a long-time sports talk host on the ESPN Radio affiliate in Jackson. Furthermore, he has also been published as a writer in outlets like the New York Daily News and Golf Magazine.

In addition, he has also been a play-by-play announcer and a regular studio host for the NFHS Network covering the Mississippi high school football championships. Furthermore, he called the famous “Mississippi Miracle” play, a 15-lateral game-winning touchdown in 2007 and it was nominated for an ESPY award and named Time Magazine’s No.1 sports moment of the year.

Furthermore, together with his brother, they founded their own media and film company in 2016 which is known as Bash Brothers Media. The Bash Brothers Media has produced a host of successful shows, digital features, and a regionally-televised documentary series. During his leisure time, he enjoys singing, golfing, and cheering on his beloved New Orleans Saints and Mississippi State Bulldogs.
