John Dawson is an American meteorologist working for FOX 26 as a weekend meteorologist. He joined the FOX 26 team in August 2001.
Dawson was brought up in Texas and he attended Friendswood High School where he graduated with a high school diploma. He also studied at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Radio/TV/Film. In addition, he also attended Mississippi State University where he studied Broadcast Meteorology and graduated in 2005. In addition, John was honored by The Houston Press Club with its Lone Star Award in Online Collaborative News Reporting in 2011, for his FOXRAD Hurricane Briefing.
Throughout hurricane season, John produces multimedia hurricane preparedness resources. Before Dawson joined the FOX 26 weather team in 2001, he worked for Family 45 television as a producer and behind-the-scenes for FOX 26 News. Furthermore, from 1998 until 2002, Dawson worked as the Video Technology Director at his alma mater, Friendswood High School. Over the years, John has been nominated for an Emmy, honored by the Associated Press, and named “Weatherman of the Year” for his work at Cable 7 in Huntsville.
