Joe Amorosino Biography

Joe Amorosino is an American Emmy award-winning director working at 7NEWS where he serves as a sports director and a weeknight sports anchor. He is also the Sunday night host of the Sports Xtra show. In addition, he joined the 7NEWS team in March 1998. 

He has covered all the six Patriot’s Super Bowl wins from (2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016, and 2018). He has also covered all four of the Red Sox’s recent World Series wins (2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018), the 2008 Celtics NBA Championship win, and the Boston Bruins’ 2011Stanley Cup Championship. In addition, his interview with Bruins bruiser P.J. Stock in 2003, received national attention. His interview resulted in an unplanned brawl yet it was supposed to be an instructional story on fighting in the NHL.

Furthermore, Amorosino joined the 7NEWS team as a sports reporter in March 1998, and in March 2001, he was named the weekend sports anchor. Prior to joining the 7NEWS team, he worked at WPRI-TV in Providence, Rhode Island where he served as a weekend Sports anchor/reporter. Joe has also worked at Cape 11 News in Yarmouth, Massachusetts where he served as a sports director and anchor.

In 2016, he was named the Massachusetts Sportscaster of the Year, and later on, he was given the same title by the National Sports Media Association in 2020. Boston.com’s A-List voted Joe as Boston’s Best Sportscaster in 2011. In addition, he was named by CityVoter Boston A-List in 2010, as the Boston’s Best Sportscaster. He was also inducted into the National Italian-American Sports Hall of Fame — Massachusetts Chapter in September 2017.

Joe attended Don Bosco High School where he graduated proudly in 1988 and later joined Boston University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism in 1992. He is also the beneficiary of the 2000 Young Alumni Council Award. He is also a product of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston and he currently serves as on the Board of Directors for the John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton.
