Jim Sciutto is an American anchor working for CNN as a chief national security analyst and anchor of CNN Newsroom with Jim Sciutto on weekdays from 2-3 pm ET. He joined the CNN news team in September 2013, after previously working for ABC.

Sciutto is CNN’s top national security specialist and anchors CNN Newsroom with Jim Sciutto on CNN Max daily from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. ET. When it comes to U.S. national security, Sciutto reports about and analyzes everything from foreign policy to the military to the intelligence community to the State Department. In the course of his career, he has worked as a reporter in more than 50 countries, including dozens of jobs in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran.
He wrote The Shadow War book about how Russia and China are trying to hurt the U.S., and The Madman Theory: Trump Takes on the World, his 2020 book about President Trump’s foreign policy, are both released by Harper Collins. Before joining CNN, Sciutto was the senior foreign correspondent for ABC News, based in London, and the correspondent for Asia Business News in Hong Kong. Sciutto worked as the chief of staff and top advisor to Gary Locke, who was the U.S. ambassador to China and was hired by the Obama administration.
