Jessica Kartalija Biography

Jessica Kartalija is an American anchor who is currently working at CBS3 where she serves as the evening anchor of the 5 pm, 6 pm, 10 pm, and 11 pm newscasts. She joined the CBS3 Eyewitness News in the fall of 2018 and previously worked at WJZ.

Jessica Kartalija Career

Prior to joining the CBS3 team, Jessica worked at WJZ in Baltimore till the summer of 2006. She has also worked at KASA FOX 2 in Albuquerque where she served as the nine pm anchor and has also worked at KOB-TV as a reporter. While she worked at KOB-TV, she was promoted to serve as the anchor of the 4 p.m newscast while still serving as a reporter for other newscasts. Before she relocated to New Mexico, she worked at KYMA-TV in Yuma, Arizona where she served as the weekend anchor and reporter and while she worked at KYMA, she the Associated Press awarded her with the Hard News Feature category award.

Despite the fact that she was born and brought up in San Diego, California, East Coast is her native home. In 1993, She joined Torrey Pines High School where she graduated in 1997. Later on, she joined Penn State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in Spanish. In addition, she has also studied at Johns Hopkins University, and in 2016, she graduated with a Master of Art in Marketing Communications and Media Studies. In addition, after she had graduated, she interned at WRC in Washington, D.C, and at KFMB in San Diego.

Furthermore, she worked with the Special Olympics, teaching athletes public speaking skills while she was in Albuquerque. Kartalija is a board member of the House of Ruth Maryland and is part of the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Women’s Initiative Network (WIN). In 2014, she was named a  recipient of The Daily Record’s Leading Women Award which celebrates women under 40 for their community involvement and professional accomplishments. In addition, she was named by the Living Classrooms Foundation as a Baltimore Rising Star and she is on the Board of Trustees at the Irvine Nature Center. During her leisure time, she enjoys traveling, skiing, and golfing.
