Jessica Aguirre is a Cuban-American Emmy Award-winning news anchor working at KNTV where she anchors the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. news. She also anchors the evening news alongside co-anchor Marcus Washington on the show Race in America. She joined the KNTV news team in 2007, from the KGO news team.

Aguirre began her career while still attending the University of Miami at the Spanish Language Network. She was hired as a general assignment reporter by WSVN, she was then promoted to co-anchor the 10 p.m. news show alongside Jillian Warry. She reported and anchored in Los Angeles, California where she worked for KABC-TV. She later made her way to San Fransisco and was hired by KGO-TV Channel 7. Here Aguirre was honored with an Emmy Award for her prominent series on the hardships immigrant children undergo and an Associated Press Award for her investigative series chronicling the struggles of immigrants fleeing Cuba. Moreover, she was awarded two more Emmy for her poignant historical reports.
In the course of her career, Aguirre’s love for global events and news has moved her from reporting in Cuba to England and many other places while at it. She has covered some of the most devastating natural disasters like Hurricane Andrew and one of the most destructive man-made catastrophes like the Oklahoma City bombing with over 160 people losing their lives in an attack by Timothy McVeigh. She also covered race riots in Miami and the prison riots in Louisiana and Atlanta.
Aguirre champions the learning and supporting of local charities and children and has routinely lectured and discussed ways in which gender equity and education can be advanced in the workplace.
