Cook re-joined KSN in July 2023 following a hiatus of four years. Commencing his tenure at KSN in July 1999 after graduating from Carl Junction High School, he initially served on the technical crew, managing tasks such as operating studio cameras, audio work, and video editing, all while pursuing his education at Missouri Southern State University. After earning his bachelor’s degree in 2004, he transitioned to the newsroom, fulfilling roles as a reporter, anchor, and member of the weather team.
Notably, he played a pivotal role in alerting Joplin residents about the significant tornado that struck the city in May 2011. He remained live on air throughout that fateful day and continued to provide coverage in the ensuing weeks and months. Reflecting on the experience, he stated, “I’ll always remember that day, not just because of the devastation and fear caused by the storm, but due to the way our community rallied together, offering assistance even before the storm subsided. It’s this unity that fills me with pride to hail from the Four States.”
Additionally, he actively engages in community service, being a member of the Elks and participating in various charitable events or out on the golf course playing a (usually very bad) round.
