Jennifer Palma is an American anchor and reporter working for Global News as an anchor and reporter for Global News at Noon on weekdays and Global News Morning Weekend. She joined the Global News team in 2007.
Jennifer’s passion for current events and her love of following the news inspired her to pursue an international studies degree at the University of Manitoba. She graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with a diploma in TV and radio arts and attended the University of British Columbia. She started her career in broadcasting in Edmonton, where she hosted a segment on a cable TV program before working as a production assistant at ITV.
Later, she relocated to Saskatchewan, where she worked in radio and reported for Global Regina and Global Saskatoon, expanding her skills. She didn’t begin reporting for Global BC until 2007. Over the years, Palma has covered a number of stories, including the jet crash into the apartment complex in Richmond. Additionally, she was the first television news reporter to cover Robert Dziekanski’s story. She also developed the training materials that the Saskatoon Police Department and the government of Saskatchewan use.

Palma had not felt well since childhood, but it wasn’t until her official diagnosis of celiac disease (CD) in her early 30s. Since certain foods never sat well with her as a child, she instinctively shunned foods like pizza and pasta. Palma was very ill by the time she received a diagnosis. Palma was thin and gaunt, was frequently bloated, and felt ill before receiving her diagnosis. She was also unable to move. Her producers actually called to see how she was doing because she was so ill. Palma thought she had a severe case of the flu after she could not stop throwing up one day at work.
Her husband had to help her up the stairs when she arrived home that day. Nothing, not even water, could hold Palma down. Believing that she had the flu, she cured herself with toast and tea, which made the condition worse. She finally went to the doctor two days later, and he ordered her straight for an emergency endoscopy. When Palma received the test results, she was horrified to learn that she had celiac disease.
