Jennifer McDermed is an American meteorologist working for FOX 9 as a weekday and weekend evening meteorologist. She joined the FOX 9 weather team in January 2018.
Atchison, Kansas is McDermid’s native home, and her passion for several weathers began at a tender age, She attended St. Louis University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology in May 2013. Not long after, Jennifer began her career in St. Joseph, Missouri where she worked at KQTV. Later in November 2013, she relocated to Des Moines, Iowa where she joined the WHO-TV 13 weather team. In addition, McDermed has also worked for KMBC 9 in Kansas City.
Over the last couple of years, Jennifer has tracked several tornadoes in Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas. In 2012, she tracked the biggest tornado that was rated an EF-4 near Lyons, Kansas. That experience equipped her on handling severe weather now that she is in Minnesota. Not only is McDermed passionate about the weather, but she is also very active as she plays volleyball and basketball games. She also enjoys kayaking, hiking, and triathlons whenever she finds time.
