Jenn Schanz is an American anchor and reporter who is currently working at WXYZ. She serves as the weekend morning anchor at the station. In addition, she joined the 7 Action News team in February 2019.

Grand Rapids is her native home. She attended DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois where she graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Previously, she worked in Lincoln, Neb, and Buffalo, New York. In addition, she has worked as both an investigative and general assignment reporter where she focused on stories related to clergy sex abuse, medical marijuana, and the opioid crisis.

Furthermore, she is also passionate about traveling, and over the years she has visited six continents after she has completed her college education, she resided in Korea. Detroit is her area of residence and she loves exploring new restaurants and different neighborhoods during her downtime.

• She has received the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Gold Award.
• For her role in News 4’s “Break Out” special; covering the June 2015 manhunt of escaped prisoners David Sweat and Richard Matt from an upstate New York correctional facility Schanz was nominated for an Emmy award.
• Additionally, for her work on “Inside The Epidemic,” she received a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award.
