Jeff Ranieri Biography
Jeff Ranieri is an American Emmy award-winning meteorologist working at KNTV as a Chief Meteorologist and appears on NBC Bay Area Monday through Friday at 5, 5:30, 6, and 11 p.m. He joined the NBC Bay Area News team after previously working at MSNBC.
Ranieri began his professional career after graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s in Telecommunications and Broadcast Journalism as a production assistant, camera operator, and floor director in 1996 at WESH 2 CW18 Orlando, Florida. He was then hired by WUFT News in 1998 as a News Anchor, Reporter, Weather Anchor & Editor where he worked with the team for two years.
Ranieri then joined KDRV-TV Sacramento, California in 2001 and worked as a meteorologist for the three years he was there. In MSNBC he served as a Meteorologist for NBC serving all platforms and NBC Universal Networks. This included corresponding for Today Show & Weekend Today Meteorologist and MSNBC Weekdays & NBC Weather Plus Network as of December 2004. Ranieri covered a wide range of major weather events from the studio and from the field, including Hurricane Katrina in Biloxi, Mississippi, and historic Midwest flooding. He also traveled to Torino and Beijing to cover the 2006 and 2008 Olympic Games.
Ranieri currently holds the American Meteorological Seal of Approval for forecasting even remote events and locations. He enjoys getting involved in the community. He is currently working with “Fly” Fresh Lifelines For Youth, SF Project Open Hand, Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley, San Francisco SPCA “Clear The Shelters Event”, Safeway Holiday Food Drive & Silicon Valley’s CAMP / AREAA Annual Holiday Charity Fundraiser.
