Jeanna Trotman is an American sports anchor and reporter who is currently working at WXYZ. She serves as the weekend sports anchor at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on WXYZ, and at 10 p.m. on WMYD. In addition, during the week, she serves as a sports reporter alongside Sports Director Brad Galli.
Detroit is her native home. She attended Henry Ford II High School in Sterling Heights where she graduated proudly. Later on, she joined Lake Superior State University in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where she graduated with a Communication degree. Furthermore, she was a four-year NCAA Division II student-athlete playing volleyball at LSSU. While she was in college, she interned at WXYZ in the Sports Department alongside Brad Galli, Tom Leyden, and Don Shane in his first year at the station.
She also attended Boston University where she earned a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism with a specialization in Sports Reporting. Additionally, she began working at KAAL the ABC affiliate in Rochester, Minnesota in 2014 where she served as a Sports Director. In addition, she later relocated back home in 2017 where she worked at WEYI/WSMH, the NBC and FOX affiliate in Flint as a Sports Director. Furthermore, she rejoined the WXYZ team in 2021 and joined its sports department.
While working at WXYZ, she has covered everything from the NCAA basketball National Championship, the Ryder Cup, and high school state championships to the NHL playoffs. Despite her professional to collegiate sports experience, she prides herself on storytelling with an emphasis on local sports. She has moved from a small market to her hometown of Detroit, and she values and understands the role sports plays within a community.
