Prior to joining the NBC 5 news team, Carlos worked for KVIA in El Paso, Texas where he served as a weekend anchor and reporter for six years. He attended The University of Texas at El Paso where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a Minor in Film in 2016. While in college, Navarrete gained an interest in journalism while he worked for the Prospector Daily as a staff reporter. The Prospector Daily was the student publication at The University of Texas at El Paso. In addition to working for his degree, JC worked as a cameraman at KVIA where he learned the broadcast news industry as a student.
Furthermore, in JC’s career as a journalist, he has served in different roles including; reporting, producing, and anchoring. He is bilingual in English and Spanish thus he is always looking forward to reporting in Spanish as well at Telemundo.
