Jason Sydejko Biography
Jason Sydejko is an American meteorologist working at KCCI 8 News as a weekday morning meteorologist a position he took up in September 2021. He joined the KCCI weather team in January 2015.
In 2002, Sydejko joined the University of Minnesota Duluth where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies, and geography, and a minor in applied mathematics in 2006. Later in 2009, he joined Mississippi State University where he graduated with a Master’s in geoscience and broadcast meteorology in 2011. He also holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval. Sydejko has received Emmy nominations while serving as a meteorologist. Prior to joining KCCI, he worked at KQDS FOX 21 in Duluth Minnesota where he served as the Chief Meteorologist for a period of 3 and 1/2 years.
He also worked at WeatherVision based out of Jackson, Mississippi where he was the weekend meteorologist. Jason is very passionate about forecasting and broadcasting and his favorite thing is teaching the ‘how’ and ‘why’ rather than just delivering a forecast. In addition, Duluth is his native home thus he has the opportunity to experience many weather extremes. Furthermore, Sydejko has experienced almost 3 feet of snow from one storm, tornadoes, temperatures of -50ºF and colder, massive floods, waterspouts, and extreme heat. During his leisure time, he enjoys running, being outdoors, and drawing.
