Jason Chaffetz Biography
Jason Chaffetz is an American anchor and reporter working for FOX News as a contributor. He joined the FOX News team in 2017.
Chaffetz went to Middle Park High School in Granby, Colorado then to Brigham Young University on an athletic scholarship, and was the starting placekicker on the Brigham Young University football team in 1988 and 1989. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the Brigham Young University College of Fine Arts and Communications in 1989. Chaffetz works contributor for FOX News (FNC) and is the host of the FOX News Radio series Jason In The House.
Since joining FOX News Channel, Chaffetz has frequently appeared as a guest host on Hannity (weekdays, 9–10 PM/ET) and Sunday Morning Futures (Sundays, 10–11 AM/ET). Chaffetz served as a representative in the US Congress before. He was a distinguished fellow of the Government Accountability Institute and the former chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee before joining the network.

Chaffetz was born to his father, John A. Chaffetz who passed away in 2012, and his mother, Margaret “Peggy” A. Wood who passed away in 1995 and was a Christian Scientist who later became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and ran a photography business. In the late 1970s, his father became involved with the ownership group of the Los Angeles Aztecs, a professional soccer team. His father was a businessman and author and later authored a book titled “Gay Reality: The Team Guido Story”, which revolves around a gay couple who competed on The Amazing Race. His younger brother, Alex, runs a Colorado-based media consulting firm.
Maxwell “Max” Chaffetz, the paternal grandfather of Chaffetz, was an FBI Special Agent and the son of Russian immigrants. Chaffetz’s father was Jewish. Max Chaffetz was the second cousin of Morris Cafritz, a philanthropist and real estate developer in Washington, D.C., and the brother of Hammond E. Chaffetz, who established federal antitrust prosecution policies that were later upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in United States v. Socony-Vacuum Oil Co. Max Chaffetz also built Kirkland & Ellis into one of the most powerful law firms in the country.
Kitty Dukakis Dickson was the first wife of Chaffetz’s father. She subsequently wed Michael Dukakis, the Democratic presidential nominee in 1988 and future governor of Massachusetts. Chaffetz’s elder half-brother, John Dukakis, was born into a four-year relationship between Chaffetz’s father and Kitty Dukakis. John Dukakis was eventually adopted by Michael and Kitty Dukakis. Chaffetz served as the Utah co-chair of Michael Dukakis’ 1988 presidential campaign while he was a college student. As reported in 2009, Chaffetz is still close to the Dukakis family and his half-brother.
