Jason Appelbaum Biography
Jason Appelbaum is an American sports anchor and reporter who is currently working at KTVU. He serves as the executive sports producer at the station. In addition, he joined the KTVU team in July 2015.
In 1987, he attended the University of California, Santa Cruz where he graduated in 1992, with a Bachelor of Arts in environmental study and economics. His interest in sports began with his watching football and golf as a kid with his grandfather. while he was a junior at the University of California at Santa Cruz, he made football a major focus when he coached the startup Madrid Panthers to a 3rd place finish in their first year of existence.
In addition, Appelbaum was able to secure his first television job at the NBC affiliate in San Francisco where he served as a producer after he had intervened at the station for a period of five months. After working at the station for ten years, he moved down south for a year where he worked at the CBS affiliate in Los Angeles where he served as a sports producer. Later on, he returned to the Bay Area where he worked at KRON as the Executive Sports Producer. While working at KRON, he earned an Emmy award for producing a one-hour sports special.
