Janelle Burrell is an American anchor currently working at CBS3 where she serves as the morning and noon co-anchor alongside Jim Donovan.
Previously, she worked at WCBS in New York City from 2013, as a general assignment reporter and anchor. Burrell was among the anchor team that assisted in launching the station’s digital channel, CBSN New York. While Burrell worked at WCBS, she contributed to the news team’s coverage of major events such as the terrorist truck attack on Manhattan’s West Side, the Pope’s visit to New York and the 2014 Super Bowl.
In addition, during an alleged cover up within New York City’s public housing system, she broke the exclusive investigation. She has also worked at Time Warner Cable News and News 12 Westchester in Binghamton as a reporter. Furthermore, she has also worked at MSNBC and WNYW Fox 5 in New York where she was behind the scenes.
New York is her native home and she attended Penn State University where she graduated with a major in English and minored in Biology. While she studied in Penn State University, she e got her first taste of broadcasting while working at WPSU-TV, the PBS station serving Central Pennsylvania as an intern. During her down time, she enjoys serving as an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism which is also her alma mater and woking with the future generation of journalists.
