Jamie Kagol is an American meteorologist working for KARE 11 as a Weekend Meteorologist. He joined the KARE 11 news team in December 2022, after previously working for 12 News.
Kagol became a part of the KARE 11 weather team in December 2022, marking the latest chapter in his extensive career spanning over two decades and a cross-country tour of forecasting. Interestingly, his journey started in Golden Valley when he interned with Ken Barlow. His initial station was KEYC in Mankato, MN, followed by a stint at KIFI in Idaho Falls, ID. Here, he forecasted snowstorms in the Northern Rockies. The next move took Jamie to Fort Myers, FL, at WFTX, where he provided tropical weather forecasts. After enjoying the sun and sand, he headed north to Mid-Michigan, working at WEYI/WSMH in Flint. Not done with warm weather yet, his next destination was the Valley of the Sun at KPNX in Phoenix, Arizona.
Here, he covered triple-digit heat, monsoon storms, haboobs, and high-country snowstorms. He pursued his academic journey by studying Geography at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Following this, he earned his Master’s Degree in Meteorology at Saint Louis University in Missouri. Where he focused his research on severe storms, tornadoes, and Doppler radar. Kagol is recognized with the AMS Seal of Approval for broadcast meteorology, showcasing his expertise and commitment to the field.
