James-Paul Dice Biography
James-Paul Dice is an American meteorologist working at WBRC 6 News. While at the station, he serves as a digital weather contributor for the First Alert Weather Team. In addition, he joined the WBRC 6 weather team in August 2008 as the chief meteorologist.
James-Paul Dice Career
Dice attended the University of Florida, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication News in 1995. He has also studied at Mississippi State University, where he earned his Master of Science in Meteorology.
Prior to Dice’s current role, he served as the chief meteorologist for the WBRC 6 station. In addition, he has served as a meteorologist for more than 25 years. During this time, he has worked in Gainesville, Florida, and in Birmingham and Huntsville. He worked at WHNT-TV in Birmingham, Huntsville, before joining the WBRC 6 weather team. During his time at the station, he served as a morning and noon meteorologist for over 11 years.
Before James-Paul’s time at WHNT-TV, he worked at WJCB-TV in Gainesville, Florida. During his time at WHNT-TV, he served as the weekend meteorologist for 2 years. In addition, when Dice joined the FOX 6 team, as the chief meteorologist, he forecasted weather from 4 pm to 6:30 pm and from 9 pm to 10:30 pm.
Furthermore, James-Paul was awarded the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal, thus making him the first meteorologist to receive the seal. He also became the 21st person nationwide to earn the distinction. In addition, he is the National Weather Association broadcast chair.
More to that, Dice holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval. He also played an integral role in the development of the first dual polarimetric Doppler radar in 2004. The dual-polarimetric Doppler radar was used for broadcast meteorology. Furthermore, Dice is also a full-time corporate pilot, and during his free time, he enjoys flying his Piper Archer. One of his most exciting moments was when he flew with the US Navy Blue Angels in an F/A-18 Hornet.
