Jacob Wycoff Biography
Jacob Wycoff is an American meteorologist working for WBZ-TV as a weekend morning meteorologist. He joined the WBZ-TV team in May 2017, after previously working for CBS News.
Northeast Ohio is where Wycoff was brought up and he was hooked in the weather at a tender age. He got to experience the “Storm of the Century” Blizzard in the spring of 1993, which buried the region under almost two feet of snow. After a month, a small tornado hit his hometown, and in 1996, his desire to become a meteorologist was solidified after the movie “Twister” was released. In addition, Jacob attended Western Connecticut State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology in 2008. Furthermore, Wycoff did his internship at NBCU where he was in the weather department. He was also a weather intern at WBFF and WTNH.
Jacob began working at WHAG TV in Hagerstown, Maryland where he served as a freelance meteorologist. He was also a freelance meteorologist at WJAC-TV in Johnstown, Pennsylvania where he worked for 4 months. In addition, Jacob also worked for WeatherBug for almost 7 years while serving as a meteorologist. While he worked at EarthNetworks, the parent company for WeatherBug, he covered many snow storms and tropical systems inclusive of hurricanes Earl, Irene, and Isaac. After that Wycoff worked for Western Mass News in Springfield, where he also served as a meteorologist for 5 years. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
