Jack Pohl Biography
Jack Pohl is an American sports director who is currently working at WDTN. He has been serving as a sports director and anchor at the station since January 2002. In addition, he joined the WDTN team in August 1995.
Jack Pohl Career
Dayton is his native home and he began his broadcasting career at Centerville high school where he began to learn his trade at WCWT. Later on, he joined Wright State University where he graduated proudly. He did later work at a number of Dayton area radio stations however, he is well known for his time as the Z-93 morning show personality alongside Kim Faris.
After he secured a job at WDTN to serve as an anchor and reporter, he moved from radio to television. He was privileged to learn the television business from WDTN’s legendary Omar Williams. In addition, over the years, he has covered the area’s biggest sporting events for 2 NEWS, Including; winter Olympic coverage from the U.S. winter Olympic training facility in Park City, Utah, Bengals and Reds playoffs, Ohio State’s national championships in football, and the Dayton Flyers NCAA tournament runs.
Furthermore, he served as the Wright State University basketball play-by-play announcer on Dayton’s CW and WDTN. He also has a huge passion for high school sports as he has served as producer of Operation Football and Operation Basketball, and host alongside Hutch Konerman.
In addition, he has served as the host of the Penn Station Athlete of the Month program for over 10 years and has followed some athletes from high school, through college, and all the way to the pros. Furthermore, he received the Ethics Integrity Media service award and the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Sportsmanship.
He has also been recognized by the OHSAA for his contributions, coverage, and service to high school athletics here in the Southwest District. During his leisure time, he enjoys good food, biking, skiing, and making people smile and laugh.
