Ilya Neyman is an American AMS-certified broadcast meteorologist working for KBAK / KBFX. He serves as the chief meteorologist and can be seen forecasting weather Sunday to Thursday at 5, 6, 10 & 11 PM.
Ilya Neyman Career
Neyman’s lifelong passion for weather was sparked by a high desert snowfall that occurred when he was a young boy. Because of this, he went on to join the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with a concentration in Meteorology. In addition, Ilya also attended California State University, Northridge, where he graduated with a Master of Arts in Geography.
After having graduated from the University of Oklahoma, Neyman started his career at a newsroom in Oklahoma City. During his time in Oklahoma, he worked in the field tracking severe weather including snowstorms, floods, tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, and ice.
California is Neyman’s native home, and he was excited to return back to his beautiful home state. While working in California, Ilya got his first-ever opportunity to work in front of the camera as an on-air meteorologist. Ever since he began working as an on-air meteorologist, he has worked for stations all over Southern California. In addition, for his outstanding prowess in blending the academic and broadcast aspects of meteorology, he earned his AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation.
Furthermore, Neyman has worked in the meteorology field for over 20 years. He is happy to be part of the KBAK and KBFX news teams, where he gets to analyze, forecast, and present the weather for the people of Kern County.
