Iisha Scott Biography
Iisha Scott is an American meteorologist working for NBC 5 Chicago as a weekday morning meteorologist. She joined the NBC 5 news team in August 2021.
Iisha Scott Career
Not long ago, the American Meteorological Society presented Scott with the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal. She attended Norfolk State University where she studied communications and broadcasting and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications and broadcasting. In addition, lisha also studied at Mississippi State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Geosciences and Meteorology.
Prior to joining the NBC 5 news team, lisha worked for WCNC Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina where she served as a weekend evening meteorologist for 3 years. While she worked at WCNC, she was part of the station’s First Warn Storm Team that covered the 2019 Hurricane Special, which won an Emmy Award. In addition, before Scott joined WCNC Charlotte, she worked at 13News Now in Norfolk, Virginia where she was the weekend evening meteorologist. She worked at 13News Now for almost 4 years, and while she was there, she covered Tropical Storm Hermine for which she received the station Ricky King Service Award.
For covering the January 2018 Blizzard, lisha and the 13New Now Weather Team were awarded the Virginia’s Associated Press Broadcasters Second Place Award for Best Weathercast. In addition, for covering Hurricane Matthew, they received the Virginia’s Associated Press Broadcasters Meritorious Award in the category of Best Weathercast of the Year. She has also received The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command’s “Doing The Most Good” award.
Furthermore, prior to joining 13News Now, lisha worked in Wilmington, North Carolina at WECT-TV 6 where she served as the weekend morning meteorologist. While she was there, she covered the city’s second-largest ice storm on record. Scott began her television career in Richmond, Virginia at WWBT NBC 12 where she was a weather apprentice and fill-in traffic reporter. In addition, she loves giving back to the community, and in 2016, she held her inaugural Back to School Vision Board Party. At the party, she urged young girls to chase their dreams and realize their potential. Scott is also active in a number of mentorship programs.
In addition, she also worked in Virginia where she served as the President of Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals, the local chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. As of the moment, she is a member of; the National Association of Black Journalists, the American Meteorological Society, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the National Weather Association, lisha has also served as a keynote speaker at community programs, schools, and church services.
