Heidi Voight Biography
Heidi Voight is an American Emmy-Award Winning anchor working for WVIT as a reporter on weekday mornings from 4:30 to 7 a.m. and a co-anchor for NBC Connecticut Today alongside co-anchor Ted Koppy and meteorologist Bob Maxon. She joined the WVIT news team in July 2014, after previously working for NBC NEWS.
Voight graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities. While there, she was the 2004 National Critics Institute Scholarship Regional and National winner. Additionally, she was a member of the 200 EugeneO’Neil/ATC fellowship and a member of The Cresent Players. She began her professional journalism career in March 2011 at WWLP 22News(NBC) as a multi-media journalist.
She was with the team for a year and seven months before later on moving to NBC News beginning as a freelance reporter in 2014. Climbing ranks over the nine years to be a reporter and fill-in anchor and currently, she is the station’s morning news anchor. Lewis Humanitarian Society, the highest honor bestowed by the Connecticut Humane Society, and was named one of Connecticut Magazine’s “40 Under 40” in 2016. She is also a former Miss America pageant contestant.

Voight lost her mother Claudia Voight. Claudia died in her Windham, Vermont home on Feb. 20. Although her death was initially believed to be “the result of an apparent medical event and did not appear suspicious,” according to the police officers. Final autopsy findings in April confirmed that Ms. Voight’s cause of death was neck compression, and the manner of death was homicide.” Her silence was necessary to protect the early stages of the intense criminal investigation.”
