Heather Walker Biography
Heather Walker is an American anchor working for NBC6 as a weekend morning anchor on NBC 6 News Today at 6 am and 8:30 am on Saturdays. She also anchors NBC 6 News Today at 7 am and 9 am on Sundays. In addition, Walker is also a weekday investigative reporter and she joined the WTVJ team in December 2021.
Prior to joining the NBC6 news team, Heather worked for WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she served as an investigative reporter and anchor. While working at WOOD-TV, Walker reported on everything from the Larry Nassar case and the Flint water crisis. She received two Emmy nominations she worked for WOOD-TV for her reporting. In addition, Heather started her broadcasting career at radio station KDBL in Yakima, Washington, and KIMA-TV.
While Walker worked for KDBL she did an investigative report that resulted in the resignation of the gang task force leader in the city’s police department. The Society of Professional Journalists awarded her an Investigative Reporting Award in 2012 while she was in Yakima. Furthermore, what Heather enjoys most as a journalist is meeting new people and telling their stories.
Toledo, Ohio is where Walker was born and brought up. She attended Bowling Green University in Bowling Green, Ohio where she graduated with a degree in broadcasting. During Walker’s leisure time, she enjoys being at the beach while she sunbaths, exploring South Florida’s food scene, traveling all over the world, and spending ample time with her family.
