Heather Abraham is an American host working for KDKA as the co-host of “Pittsburgh Today Live,” alongside David Highfield airing on weekday mornings at 9 a.m. She is also the host of Talk Pittsburgh which is a weekday afternoon show airing at 3 pm.
Abraham joined the KDKA news team in 2010. She was brought up in Shaler Township where she attended Shaler Area High School and graduated proudly and while she was there, she made the morning announcements. Later on, Heather joined West Virginia University where she studied Broadcast News and graduated in 2006. In addition, Abraham previously worked at News 12 Brooklyn, which is a 24-hour cable news station in New York City.
While Abraham worked at News 12 Brooklyn, she served as a photographer, reporter, and editor for four years. Working in Brooklyn prepared her the most for the next step in her career. Over the years, Heather has received a number of Emmy nominations inclusive of one for a deeper look into the Pittsburgh Police Vice Squad. Furthermore, a Golden Quill award was presented to her for reporting on a 7-alarm fire in Homestead. For Heather’s on-air role on PTL, she received an Emmy nomination for hosting the show.
In addition, she is actively involved in the community, and she is involved in the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania. She has also participated in the organization’s annual polar plunge fundraiser, and the Animal Friends, Hair Peace Charities, and KDKA-TV Turkey Fund. Furthermore, Heather has established a yearly block party and assisted in creating a safe Light Up Night on her street during the 2020 COVID pandemic. During her spare time, she enjoys spending as much time as she can with her family, listening to music, watching a movie, reading a book, traveling, eating at local restaurants, and joining on vacations.
