Hadas Gold Biography

Hadas Gold is an American anchor and reporter working for CNN as a news correspondent. She joined the CNN news team in September 2017, after previously working for POLITICO.

Hadas Gold Career

Gold has been around during one of the most hectic periods in recent memory for Jerusalem. There were times when she was living under fire while covering fights between Palestinians and Israelis, such as the 11-day war in 2021 between Hamas and the Israeli forces. She was live on the air in Jerusalem when rockets were fired at the city. Later in the war, she reported live from near the Gaza border while rockets were often fired at her.

She often reports from the scene of the shockingly high levels of violence between Israelis and Palestinians. Since the Second Intifada, this level of violence has killed more people in Israel and the occupied West Bank than at any other time. Gold has written a lot about the rise of new terrorist groups, Israel’s now-regular military raids into the West Bank, and the Palestinian Authority’s future.

Gold has also reported a lot about the big changes happening in Israel’s politics, like the protests against the government’s plan to overhaul the justice system, Benjamin Netanyahu’s historic corruption trial and loss of the prime ministership in 2021, and his comeback 18 months later. In the past, she has also written about Israel’s COVID-19 vaccination program, the first visits by Israeli leaders to new partners like Bahrain, and President Joe Biden’s visit to Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territories in 2022.

Gold covered politics, media, and technology for CNN from London and Washington, D.C., before moving to Jerusalem. In Washington, D.C., she was one of the lead writers on the Trump administration’s historic lawsuit to stop AT&T from buying Time Warner, CNN’s parent company at the time.

Gold was a media reporter for Politico for more than five years before she joined CNN. In 2017, Mediaite named her one of the “most influential media reporters” she had worked for. She got a grant from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting in 2011 while she was a graduate student. She went to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to write about trash pickers. Gold graduated from Desert Mountain High School in 2006. Moreover, Gold earned a B.A. in news and an M.A. in media and public affairs at George Washington University. At the School of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University, she is on the National Council.
