Greg Cergol is an American eight-time Emmy award-winning reporter working for NBC 4. She joined the NBC 4 news team in April 1999.
For Cergol’s outstanding work, he has been awarded four Edward R. Murrow Awards inclusive of a national award for NBC 4 New York’s 2012 coverage of Superstorm Sandy. Since April 1999, Greg has covered Long Island’s headline-making stories and its most high-profile while working for NBC 4 New York. In addition, he has also covered; political and governmental corruption, two presidential debates, the opioid epidemic, and the future of Long Island’s economy.
Furthermore, Greg has been focused on the biggest court cases impacting the community including; the death of young, Thomas Valva, and the murder of the boy scout, Andrew McMorris. Prior to joining NBC 4 New York, Greg worked at News 12 Long Island for 9 years while serving as an anchor and reporter. Queens is Cergol’s native home and he spent the early days of his career working at radio stations in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Long Island, Omaha, Milwaukee, and the NBC Radio Network.
Greg is a member of the Long Island Press Club Hall of Fame, and the Press Club named him “Journalist of the Year” as an honor for his service and accomplishments. In addition, Cergol has been awarded by the US Army Reserves with the General’s Award. He has also received honors from; the Associated Press, the NYS Broadcaster’s Association, Long Island Fair Media Council, and many more. Furthermore, he is an active volunteer with Long Island’s non-profit community organizations. He attended Marquette University in Milwaukee where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
