Grant Gilmore Biography
Grant Gilmore is an American meteorologist working for CBS 3 as a weekday noon and 4 p.m. meteorologist. He joined the CBS 3 weather team in May 2023, after previously working for WTSP-TV.
Saline, Michigan is where Gilmore was brought up and he discovered his love for weather, science, and climate in general. Grant attended the University of North Carolina Asheville where he earned his degree in Atmospheric Sciences. While he was at the University, he played soccer for the Bulldogs for the four years he was there. In addition, after having graduated, from the University of North Carolina Asheville, Gilmore began his television news career at WMAZ-TV in Macon, Georgia. He then worked at WFMY-TV in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Furthermore, while he worked in Greensboro, he served as the chief meteorologist for 4 years. In his position, he covered everything from winter storms to hurricanes. Gilmore was named as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in 2009, by the American Meteorological Society. For his coverage of winter storms in North Carolina and showing the effect of climate change on hurricane activity in Florida., he won a number of Emmy awards.
In addition, Gilmore has also worked at the CBS affiliate in Tampa Bay for 6 years while serving as a morning meteorologist. While he was in Florida, he assisted in guiding Central Florida and the Tampa Bay region through many tropical systems, most notably hurricanes Ian and Irma. Furthermore, he is happy to be forecasting in the Delaware Valley and Philadelphia where there is dynamic weather. During his free time, he enjoys bike riding, exploring all the historic places around the area, joining for a run, and getting out in the weather together with his family.
