Gina Maravilla Biography
Gina Maravilla is an American Emmy Award-winning traffic anchor and reporter working for 3TV as a weekday morning traffic anchor on Good Morning Arizona. She joined Arizona’s Family in September 2009, after previously working for KPHO.
Maravilla attended Glendale’s Deer Valley High School and while she was there, she played basketball. She then joined Arizona State University studying at its Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Gina earned two degrees, in broadcast journalism and political science, with a minor in sociology. In addition, she has also attended Georgetown University where she studied Political Economy and Political Journalism.
While she attended Georgetown University, she did work at Meet the Press located in Washington D.C where she was part of a political journalism program. Just at the age of 19, Maravilla began working at 3tv as an intern and she climbed her way up the ladder to becoming a reporter and weekend anchor. In addition, prior to leaving the desert for the beach, Gina spent a decade working at 3TV. Later on, she relocated to Tampa, Florida where she worked at BayNews9 as an anchor and reporter.
As she worked at BayNews9, she covered; Florida’s 2004 presidential campaign, the explosion of the Space Shuttle Columbia, and Central Command during the start of the Iraq war. After having survived four hurricanes, Gina decided to come back to Phoenix. Whenever she finds time, she enjoys taking part in community organizations and spending ample time with her family.
