Eun Yang Biography
Eun Yang is a Korean-American Emmy-Award Winning anchor working for WRC-TV as an evening news anchor at 6, the #1 rated evening newscast. She joined the WRC-TV news team in 2011, after previously working for National Geographic.
Eun Yang Education
Yang completed her education at Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville, Maryland, and obtained a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Maryland at College Park. Currently, she serves as a member of the Board of Visitors for the Philip Merrill College of Journalism. She initiated her career in broadcast journalism at the University of Maryland. While at the University, she served as a reporter for Maryland Update, a program on the university’s cable channel.

She later became a correspondent for National Geographic Today at the National Geographic Channel. Despite declining a position in New York, the nation’s top market, she opted to join NBC4 as a reporter. During her tenure at NBC4, Yang had notable opportunities, such as covering the 2018 Olympics in Seoul, interacting with two popes, and reporting on presidential inaugurations. In 2019, she achieved recognition by winning the Emmy Award for her exceptional hosting of the restaurant show “The Foodies.” Additionally, she also anchored the station’s “Inequality in America: Tackling the Rise in Anti-Asian Hate” special. Later on, she won an Emmy and a regional Edward R. Murrow award for the special.
Yang has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Television Broadcast Journalist Award from the Multicultural Media Correspondents Association. Additionally, she received a community leadership award from AALEAD, and the Heroes of Our Time Award from the Council of Korean Americans. She has also received a Student Role Model award from the Korean American Scholarship Foundation. These accolades are just a few among the various recognitions she has earned for her contributions and achievements.
Presently, she anchors the 4 pm and 6 pm editions on weekdays alongside Leon Harris and Jim Handly, respectively. Before taking on the evening newscast in April 2023, Yang dedicated over a decade to anchoring the weekday morning newscast. During this time, she collaborated with co-anchors Joe Krebs, Aaron Gilchrist, and Jumi Olabanji. From June 2008 to June 2009, Eun Yang created a WordPress blog called “Eun Yang’s Family Affairs.” On the blog, she shares and keeps specific memories on the internet.
