Erika Tarantal Biography
Erika Tarantal is an American Emmy-winning anchor and reporter working for WCVB as a co-anchor of the 5 pm and 5:30 pm newscats. She joined the WCVB news team in February 2014.
Aside from serving as an anchor, she is also reports of the stations “5 For Good” stories that spotlights people assisting others in the community across Massachus. The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) awarded her “5 for Good” story entitled “Food Truck Fighting Hunger” in 2017, with a national Gracie Award. Prior to Erika joining WCVB, she worked for News 4 New York, NBC’s flagship station in New York City.
While she was at WNBC, she served as a weekend anchor and a primary fill-in anchor of the weekday morning newscast, “Today in New York.” Over the years, Tarantal has reported on Major stories that range from the election of Pope Benedict to the death of Pope John Paul II to the tragic shootings in Newtown, CT and covering Superstorm Sandy for hours.
In December 2007, Erica joined News 4 New York as a general assignment reporter. Before joining NBC4, Erika worked at WVIT-TV in Hartford, CT where she also served as a general assignment reporter from October 2005. Before then, she worked at News 12 in Bronx where began as a general assignment reporter before being promoted to serving as anchor of the weekday morning newscast.
Tarantal has also worked for WHDH-TV in Boston where she served as a production assistant. Prior to starting her broadcasting career, she worked for the Office of the Attorney General in Boston where she was a paralegal. Erica attended Connecticut College where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in government.
