Erika Arias Biography

Erika Arias is an American anchor working for FOX 61 as a weekday morning news anchor on the All Local All Morning segment that airs from 7 am to 11 am. She joined FOX 61 in 2009, as a weeknight anchor at  10 pm and 11 pm. 

Despite the fact that she was born in Stoneham, Mass, and brought up in California, she has strong ties to Connecticut. In August 1996, Arias joined Northeastern University where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. Her big break into television news was at WPRI-TV in Providence, Rhode Island and within a short while, she covered one the biggest breaking news stories in New England which is the Station nightclub fire in West Warwick, Rhode Island. She was also the only reporter who interviewed a nightclub survivor, live from inside the hospital, and for this, she received an Emmy award.

Later on, she relocated to Las Vegas where she covered the Ted Binion murder re-trial the capture of “the Ohio sniper,” and the Bellagio blackout. Erika also had the opportunity to interview a number of celebrities such as; Kobe Bryant, Nikki Hilton, Robert Redford, Kobe Bryant, and Anna Nicole Smith. She did appear on the big screen in the movie, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous, and her role was to portray a local news anchor. In addition, she then relocated to Southern California where she took a break from the news biz. Furthermore, she also served as a freelance correspondent in Los Angeles for the Fox News Channel where she reported on entertainment events such as American Idol.

While working for FOX stations, she provided coverage, live reports, and interviews across the country, including; Atlanta, Chicago, Washington D.C, and Boston. Arias is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Asian American Journalists Association. During Erika’s spare time, she enjoys relaxing at home with her family and friends, cooking, and doing Pilates.
