Eric Shawn is an American anchor and reporter working for FOX NEWS as a New York-based anchor and senior correspondent. He joined the FOX NEWS news team in 1996, after previously working for WPIX.
Shawn graduated from Trinity School in New York City and later earned a degree in urban studies from Georgetown University. Additionally, he had a cameo role as a reporter in the 1990 film Gremlins 2: The New Batch. He began his journalism career as a reporter for WNYC TV at NYC City Hall during the Mayor Koch Years and later worked for WNYW (FOX) and WPIX in New York. He then joined Fox News’ affiliate news service, Fox News Edge, as the Fox Network Anchor and Correspondent. Throughout the past few decades, he has covered numerous major national and international stories, including the Gulf War, the 1992 Clinton campaign, the Democratic and Republican national conventions, and the O. J. Simpson murder case, among other breaking news events.
In 2001, Mafia hitman Frank Sheeran disclosed to Shawn that he shot labor leader Jimmy Hoffa in a house in Detroit on July 30, 1975. He played a key role in leading the team that discovered blood evidence on the house’s floor in 2004. His efforts contributed to the publication of the book “I Heard You Paint Houses” and the film “The Irishman.” He currently anchors the special Fox Nation series on the Hoffa case, titled “Riddle: The Search For James R. Hoffa.” Furthermore, he has anchored on Fox News Channel during election nights in 2014 and 2016, and he has produced and reported various documentary specials, including “Riddle: The Search for James R. Hoffa” on the streaming service Fox Nation. Currently, he co-anchors the weekend programs of ‘America’s News Headquarters’ with Arthel Neville, anchors during the week, and serves as the Senior Correspondent for the network.
In his recent role, he has taken on the responsibility of anchoring special coverage related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. His prior contributions include delivering up-to-the-minute election news updates from New York and Pennsylvania during FNC’s Democracy 2020 election coverage. Throughout his tenure at FNC, he has been a regular reporter from the United Nations, specializing in political affairs and terrorism. This involvement extends to anchoring hour-long news specials that cover diverse topics, ranging from election coverage to investigative documentaries and breaking news. Notably, he has been a consistent live presence for the network during major political cycles since he joined in 1996. His dedication to reporting was evident in his coverage of September 11 from Ground Zero for several months after the towers collapsed.
