Eric Glasser is an American anchor and reporter working for 10 Tampa Bay as an anchor and reporter. He joined the 10 Tampa Bay news team in May 2010, after previously working for WPTV.
Eric Glasser Career
Glasser earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Telecommunications from the University of Florida. After his graduation, he worked for six years as a reporter for WPEC-TV in West Palm Beach. There, he covered several high-profile events including the Republican National Convention. He also covered the execution of serial killer Ted Bundy, the Amtrak catastrophe in Alabama’s Bayou Canot, and the U.S. Air flight 427 crash close to Pittsburgh. Glasser has even touched down on the deck of an aircraft carrier in the Atlantic Ocean, having flown alongside the Golden Knights of the U.S. Army. Glasser has survived Hurricane Andrew. He is among the select few reporters from South Florida who have been knocked around in about a dozen more major storms since then.
Moving on, Glasser worked as a reporter for WNYW-TV in New York City, the largest market in the country. While there, Glasser covered the visits of international leaders including Pope John Paul II and Nelson Mandela. He received recognition for his efforts on large-scale fires in the Hamptons. He was also among the first reporters to arrive on Long Island after TWA flight 800 crashed into flames. After New York, he moved west to Dallas, Texas. There, he spent almost ten years as an anchor and reporter for KDFW-TV. Glasser won multiple accolades for his community involvement and on-air efforts while he was there.
In addition, Glasser won other accolades from the Associated Press, neighborhood associations, and charitable organizations while serving as the lead reporter on a newscast that won the area’s Emmy Award for “Best Newscast” in a major market. On election night in 2000, when Glasser was in Austin covering the Bush campaign, he broke the first story about a ballot problem in Palm Beach County, Florida, that would eventually lead to Bush v. Gore. Furthermore, he was in Denver for Timothy McVeigh’s murder trial, Houston for Senator John Glenn’s historic space flight return to Earth, and anchoring the news the morning the Space Shuttle Columbia broke apart over Texas.
Later, when search teams combed southeast Texas for the shuttle’s wreckage and its crew, Glasser was the only reporter embedded with them. He received recognition following his several days in Gulfport and Biloxi, Mississippi, during and after Hurricane Katrina. After a few years, Glasser returned to Florida and began working as an anchor and news reporter at West Palm Beach’s WPTV. He relocated to Tampa Bay in 2010 across the state and has been covering the major news and events in the area ever since, working hard to gain and maintain the viewer’s trust.
