Emily Owen is an American meteorologist working at FOX54, where she serves as a weekend meteorologist. Owen joined the WZDX team in May of 2019, and prior to this, she worked in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Dring Emily’s time in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, she worked at WVUA 23 News, while serving as a meteorologist. In addition, she worked at WVUA 23 News in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for less than a year. Owen attended Mississippi State University where she graduated in May of 2019. Emily earned a Bachelors of Science in Geosciences. In addition, she graduated with a major in professional meteorology with an emphasis in broadcasting.
Furthermore, Owen is from the South and thus she has expirienced many tornadoes that passed though her hometown during her childhod days. With the constant exposure to extreme weather conditions, Emily developed interest in weather and specifically severe weather. As a result, she decided to pursue her love for weather as a career after she had a personal experience with the April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak. Owen desired to keep the people in the community safe from destructive hash weather conditions. In addition, she also desired to learn the science behind weather.
During Emily’s spare time, she enjoys reading a good book, binge-watching her favorite series, and playing with her dog Fitz. In adition, you can also find her attending community events, online shopping, going to concerts, and indoor cycling. More so, Emily loves forecasting for her friends and family in her home state of Alabama and keeping safe the people of Tennessee Valley.
