Egypt Sherrod Biography
Egypt Sherrod is an American radio/television personality and CEO of Egypt Sherrod Real Estate Group. She is best known for being a cast member of the third season of the reality television show; Married To Real Estate which airs on HGTV.
Egypt Sherrod Career
Sherrod became a host on a jazz station at the age of 18. She was the youngest person in the country to get a job as a music director at a radio station when she was 19. Having a father and an uncle who were real estate agents as a child, she saw real estate as a way to make money for retirement and as a fallback to her radio job. At age 24, she bought her first house. She paid her real estate agents a lot of money, so in 2002 she got her license and became a real estate agent. On top of that, she worked as a reporter for the Maury show.
She was the hit radio host on WBLS 107.5 in New York City, where she talked to Prince, Tyler Perry, and Oprah. More than 60 places across the US got the show through a network. Her connections with famous people helped her get more real estate clients. She was sick of “gossip and entertainment reports,” so she thought about leaving radio. Sherrod says that while she was hosting her show, a casting director called to see if Sherrod would be interested in hosting the show that would become Property Virgins.
She agreed to try out and got the part. But after four episodes of shooting, she found out she was pregnant. She told the producers but didn’t tell her coworkers because she was afraid she might lose her job. It didn’t matter, which made her happy. With a baby on the way, she thought about how hard it would be to balance work and family life in New York.
She also wanted something new, so she thought about making a change. It was March 2012 when Sherrod agreed to be the noon host on WVEE V-103 in Atlanta. a place she had been to many times as a child when she went to see family. She talked to famous people like Keith Sweat, Musiq Soulchild, Jazze Pha, The Braxtons, and Marsha Ambrosius while she was there. She began shooting on the weekends after the show Property Virgins moved to Atlanta to make room for her.
Sherrod quit her job at the radio station, though, because she was too busy with her family, work, and a bout of postpartum depression. She has been the right person for home buyers and sellers on NBC’s Today Show, CNBC, FOX, CNN, and HLN, and she has also been featured in Fast & Company, Yahoo, Homes.com, Rolling Stone, Black Enterprise, and many other print and online magazines. On Running Press/Perseus Books, she wrote “Keep Calm…It’s Just Real Estate: Your No-Stress Guide To Buying A Home,” which was a big hit in its field.
People have asked Sherrod to speak and moderate. Her job was to lead Oprah’s “The Life You Want Tour.” As a regular “Hot Topics” guest and lifestyle expert, Sherrod has been on shows like Dish Nation, Steve Harvey, Showbiz Tonight, and the Larry Wilmore Show. Sherrod will host the reunion special of The Haves and the Have Nots, an Oprah Winfrey Network soap opera. It will air on July 27, 2021, and August 3, 2021, as part of the show’s series end package.
Since 2022, she and her husband Mike Jackson have been on HGTV’s Married to Real Estate, where they fix up houses and turn them into their clients’ dream homes. In Season 3, they were contestants on HGTV’s Rock the Block, and in Season 2, they were judges.
In college, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in broadcasting and public relations. She also went to the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University to study theater. The couple is blessed with three daughters; Kendall Jackson (born January 2012), Harper Skye (born February 2019), and a stepdaughter, Simone from Jackson’s previous relationship.

Sherrod was put on a heart-healthy cardio diet after having complications after giving birth to her last-born daughter. She had breathing troubles so she had to be rushed back to the hospital and she was treated for fluid overload. Her body was holding fluids to the point where it had gotten into her lungs and she got edema.
Sherrod experienced symptoms of cardiomyopathy which runs in her family and can get worse during pregnancy. Though she gained a lot of weight after giving birth to her second child, she did not make negative comments on her social media platforms. She shares her diet experience in public but she does not have a strict diet but has never skipped her workout routine.
