Ed Harding Biography
Ed Harding is an American anchor working for WCVB-TV as a weekday co-anchor of the 4, 5, 7, and 11 pm newscast. He joined the WCBV-TV IN 1988, as a sports anchor and reporter.
Over the years, Harding has received many awards inclusive of three Boston/New England Emmy awards which he received for best Anchor-News. He has also received two first-place Massachusetts Broadcasters Association Sound Bites awards for being an On-Air Personality. In addition, Ed began serving as the co-anchor of EyeOpener in 2000, and later in 2004, he took up the co-anchor position of the 11 pm newscast.
In January 2016, Harding assisted in launching WCVB’s NewsCenter 5 at 4 PM and 7 PM when the station added the newscasts to its lineup. Prior to joining WCVB, Harding worked for WISH-TV, the CBS affiliate in Indianapolis as the sports director and principal sports anchor. In addition, while he worked at WISH, he served as the anchor and producer of the 6 pm and 11 pm sportscast. He also co-producered and reported the stations annual ‘Indy 500’ special. Furthermore, Ed also served as a producer and host of NFL Indianapolis Colts coach and The Colts Today.
Harding provided live reports and color commentary for three years for Colts games on WIBC Radio. While Ed worked in the Midwest, the Indianapolis Magazine named him as Best TV Sportscaster and he won two Indiana Associated Press awards. Before joining WISH, Ed worked for WDSU-TV in New Orleans where he served as a sports director and anchor from 1978 to 1981. For one year, Harding worked at KMSP-TV as an assistant sports director and weekend anchor. He also served as sports director and anchor at WPTZ-TV in Plattsburgh, New York from 1975 to 1977. In addition, Boston is his native home and he graduated from Emerson College in Boston.
