Drew Anderson Biography
Drew Anderson is an American meteorologist working for FOX 29 where he served as the morning meteorologist on Good Day Philadelphia.
Drew Anderson Career
Anderson assisted in giving weather forecasts on FOX29 when Good Day Philadelphia went on the road in 1997. He attended Penn State University where he majored in meteorology and graduated proudly. Later in 2008, he had the opportunity to learn from Kathy Orr at FOX 29 while he was an intern. In 2009, Anderson worked on ESPN’s College GameDay where he gave forecasts and this made Kathy proud.
After having completed college, Drew worked at WGAL, the NBC in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he worked for a couple of years. After having worked at WBRE as a weekday morning weather anchor, he then relocated to York, Pennsylvania where he worked for FOX 43. While working at FOX 43, Drew provided live reporters from balloon floating across Lancaster County, and also gave live reports from moving planes, trains, cars, and boats. He also worked at WFMZ, in Allentown, Pennsylvania where he served as the weekend morning and evening weather anchor. In addition, he was promoted to serving as the morning show science anchor at the station. Over the years, Anderson has received a number of Emmy nominations. His work on weather and science earned him awards from AccuWeather and the American Meteorological Society’s prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal.
Whenever Anderson is not on television, he is serving in the community. Many conferences often request Drew to lead workshops and talks as he is known for his innovation in the classroom, technology, and teaching. In addition, he received the teaching excellence award from Penn State in 2017. He has taught more than fifty courses in person and/or online that focus on the how’s and why’s of weather, weather that changed history, severe weather, earth science, sustainability, risk management, geography, communications, and natural disasters.
Furthermore, he has taught many courses at Penn State University and as of the moment, he lectures meteorology and earth science at West Chester University. During Anderson’s leisure time, he enjoys traveling, riding, climbing a rock wall, biking, and skating. In addition, his most memorable moment was when he lead science expeditions on Antarctica.
